COOKING CLASSES AND GOURMET EXPERIENCES
A FABULOUS HOLIDAY WITH A UNIQUE CULINARY ADVENTURE!
Cooking at Simca & Julia’s is a Lifestyle Vacations France original program designed by Corinne Preteur.
Domaine de Bramafan was Simone and Jean Beck’s private property in Grasse. They restored an early eighteen century stone farmhouse called “Le Vieux Mas”. My Life in France book tells how Julia and Paul Child cottage retreat “La Pitchoune” (meaning little girl in Provence dialect) came to be built next door.
Le Vieux Mas is today a contemporary renovated villa offering 5 spacious bedrooms, each one with its en-suite bath and modern comfort.
4 hands-on cookery lessons are run by Chef Corinne in the villa’s open-space kitchen.
Aside to your classes, you will explore and enjoy Provence stunning villages and breathtaking landscapes, and the mythic French Riviera.
A FABULOUS HOLIDAY WITH A UNIQUE CULINARY ADVENTURE!
Our cooking program includes 4 hands-on classes celebrating the French, Mediterranean & Provence classics, and taught in English. You will also experience the food market tour & shopping with Chef Corinne, and get her tips to choose the right seasonal produce. Although recipes are featured in famous cook books, classics have evolved over the time. Today, the way to prepare sauces is more a reduction than a roux… All recipes you experience are certainly simplified for home cooks, and no particular skills are required to attend our classes.
Teachings include cooking methods and organization rules in the kitchen, balanced menus prepared with fresh seasonal produce, food and wine pairing exercises, olive oil tastings, and more. Classes last about 3 hours, scheduled in the morning and in the afternoon to leave half-days free for visits, excursions, shopping and resting time.
All our menus follow Spring season with asparagus, artichokes, rhubarb, cherries…but you’ll be lucky with berries, pears, tomatoes, eggplants, zucchinis, and more. Sample menus can include Pissaladière, Ratatouille, Tian provençal, Petits farcis, Spelt risotto, Sea bream topped with olives crust, Sautéed veal with lemon and thyme… Classic desserts and pastry such as the crème brulée, Grand Marnier soufflé, fruits tarts, clafoutis, profiteroles… will certainly be in the menus too!
Each class is followed by a delicious 4-course lunch or dinner including appetizer, main course, cheese and dessert. Each one is accompanied by wine, and coffee expresso or tea.
